It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
